These vehicles can save you money in fuel costs, but some of the earliest models were sold with relatively steep price tags that cut deeply into fuel savings. These days, several choices are available that are reasonably priced and offer good value.
If you're in the market for accessibly priced eco-friendly transportation, the list that follows will be useful. It spotlights the 10 most affordable green cars for 2017, presented in descending order to the least expensive model. We've defined green cars as gas-electric hybrids, plug-in hybrids, electric cars and fuel-cell vehicles. Prices reflect delivery and destination charges.

Incentives are not included in our rankings, but these can have a powerful impact on green-car pricing. Electric cars and plug-in hybrids may qualify for federal tax credits of up to $7,500, and state incentives are also available.
Our list includes only those models that had 2017 pricing available when our rankings were compiled. Based on 2016 pricing, the Toyota Prius c and Smart Fortwo Electric would have easily made the cut if their pricing for the model year featured in this list had been available.
